  • Partnering Workshop mit Marion Sparber und Pablo von Sternenfels

    tanz_netzwerk_bremen

Zentrum für Kunst (Probebühne), Hermann-Ritter-Str. 108E, 28197 Bremen

We start the class by opening our channels of awareness and connect to our partner by manipulating, testing and speculating with his/her structure and weight. A special focus in this phase is the use of our whole body doing the task, not only being limited to our hands and arms. In this first part the use of play-fullness allows us to connect to our instinctive side, tuning into a shared natural flow of breath. With the help of exercises in different constellations, every time changing and adapting to a new partner and universe - we listen, follow and direct the movement as one functioning organism through space. We get ready to jump, cross, push, pull, avoid, embrace and suspend each other. We like to focus on an organic way of Partnering, based on action/reaction principles inspired by Contact Improvisation and Fighting styles. We like to access the movement from a perspective of a deeper connection and try to avoid the superficial habit of copying shapes. Instead we motivate every couple to find a unique way of communicating with the partner and look for individual solutions and variations of the material. Another important aspect of our class is the constant change of the level of activity for both roles. We learn how much resistance, power and direction is needed to reach our maximum together by investigating with the given tools, and finally learning fixed Partnering material at the end of each class.

Originally from South Tyrol, choreographer, teacher and dancer Marion Sparber received her dance training at the Varium in Barcelona and the Iwanson School in Munich. In 2010 she moved to Berlin, where she has been working and living as a freelance artist ever since.
Since 2015 Marion is supported by the Office for German Culture South Tyrol, the Region Trentino-South Tyrol and the Foundation Sparkasse South Tyrol and produced by IDEA - Dance Theater Performance under the direction of Doris Plankl. Marion also choreographed together with Martina Marini and Riccardo Meneghini "Radix", an own production of the dance collective South Tyrol. Furthermore Marion developed works for professional trainings and festivals. Her work has been performed at numerous international theaters and festivals in Europe, South and North America, and Asia. Communication and sometimes provocation of the audience is one of Marion's trademarks. With her shows she wants to use art as a mouthpiece to draw attention to socio-political injustices.

Pablo von Sternenfels was born in Mexico City. Very young he moved to Chicago, where he took his first dance lessons at the Momenta school with Stephanie Clemens. He continued his training at the Taller Coreografico de la UNAM, the Escuela Nacional de Danza Clasica y Contemporánea, the National Ballet School in Cuba and the John Cranko School in Stuttgart. For five years he danced as a soloist with the Stuttgart Ballet, performing in pieces by choreographers such as Jiri Kilian, William Forsythe, Marco Goecke, Sidi Larbi Chercaoui, Edward Clug, Hans van Manen and many others in the repertoire.
Since June 2017 he has been working as a freelancer and has participated in various galas and festivals, such as Dance Salad Festival (Houston), Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Solocoreografico (Frankfurt), 26 Feira Cabalar Galicia, Theaterhaus Jazztage (Stuttgart), and others.

The workshop is addressed to professional dancers and is free of charge. If you would like to participate, please register below.
