Since its foundation, the LAFDK has represented the interests of dance and uses its broad political recognition for this purpose. The Tanzinitiative Bremen, an association of professional dancers founded in 2015, joined the LAFDK in 2019 as AG TANZINITIATIVE and has since been represented at board level. This section of the association brings together around 50 freelance professional dancers and dance professionals from Bremen and Bremerhaven who work at state and national level and in an international context. In addition, institutions such as Tanz Bremen, Schwankhalle, Etage Bremen and Tanzbar Bremen are represented there. The AG TANZINITIATIVE is the active pillar in all matters concerning dance and at the same time uses the strength of the large lobby of the LAFDK.

The LAFDK's AG TANZINITIATIVE meets regularly with the aim of focussing on networking, exchange and qualification of the professionally working independent dance actors and institutions. Topics that are particularly relevant to dance are identified and discussed and promoted in the context of the independent performing arts at state and national level. The aim is to actively advocate for the specific needs of dance and to improve the framework conditions for independent dancers and institutions. The work of the AG TANZINITIATIVE is aimed at all those active in the field of dance. This includes dance schools, dance teachers, choreographers, etc.

In the AG TANZINITIATIVE the project "Darf ich bitten? Bremer TanzDialoge" was developed. The TanzDialoge offers a platform for artistic debate and exchange between dance practitioners. At the same time, this project creates a field for experimentation that enables encounters within the scene. Different backgrounds and diverse dance languages are confronted and explored.

Another project of the AG TANZINITIAZTIVE is tanz_netzwerk_bremen, which connects local actors in the independent dance scene and strengthens exchange between local scenes. The aim is to improve working and production conditions as well as the further qualification of dance professionals. The Bremen cooperation alliance of festivals, dance professionals, dance networks of various cities, production venues and dance schools is constantly being expanded.
