With the kindertheater_netzwerk Bremen, the LAFDK offers a platform for networking and further education for artists, dance-theatre teachers and other actors who produce theatre for and with children.
For the kindertheater_netzwerk, actors from the independent scene in Bremen joined forces in 2021 as the AG Kindertheater (Children's Theatre Working Group) under the label "Theater for Lütte" in order to expand the productive and artistic exchange and to support each other against the background of pandemic-related challenges.
In order to promote networking among the scene and as a signal to cultural policy, the kindertheater_netzwerk Bremen expanded by establishing a project coordinator in February 2022. Providing a range of workshops, residencies, joint theatre visits and formats for exchange, children's theatre makers are further qualified and supported.
Throughout the year, we invite national and international professionals from the fields of direction and dramaturgy, figure and object theatre, performance, music and dance to hold workshops, as well as colleagues from other federal states for an exchange on "best practice models of networking".
These offers will provide new impulses for the important work of children's theatre makers in the state of Bremen. In addition, they will serve as a means of mutual artistic stimulation, exchange and further qualification of the actors.
The "TOURENDE BÜHNE für Junges Publikum" (engl. "TOURING STAGE for Young Audiences") was launched in 2022 as a pilot project of the ‘Young Audience Network’ in the State Association of Independent Performing Arts. The project was aimed at primary and secondary schools in the state of Bremen and aimed to bring pupils together with the theatre arts. Thanks to funding from the Senator for Children and Education and the Senator for Culture, 50 schools in Bremen and Bremerhaven were able to book free performances - reaching around 11,000 pupils in 2023.
The project promoted cultural participation, especially for schools in socio-economic need. Art and culture offer young people new perspectives and contribute to democratic education. TOURENDE BÜHNE had to pause at the end of 2023 due to a lack of funding. The resumption in summer 2024 as part of the Startchancen programme no longer corresponded to the original concept. Unfortunately, a sustainable solution could not be found.
The LAFDK would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment, which has emphasised the importance of this project for Bremen.
Supported by the Fonds Soziokultur with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media within the framework of NEUSTART KULTUR and by the Senator for Culture of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
